What is YouTube’s Content ID System and How Does It Work?

YouTube’s Content ID system is an automated digital fingerprinting tool that scans all videos uploaded to YouTube and detects the use of registered copyrighted content—including our music.

Since Content ID operates automatically, we have no direct control over its scanning process. This means that even if you have purchased a license for our music, you may still receive a copyright claim from YouTube’s Content ID system.

Once you dispute or clear the claim, you should not receive additional claims for that specific video. If you continue to receive claims after clearing them, contact us immediately.

What is a Copyright Claim, and How Do I Remove It?

A copyright claim is not the same as a copyright strike. A claim simply means that monetization on your video is restricted due to copyrighted content being detected. It does not affect your channel or video visibility.

There are two ways to remove a copyright claim and restore monetization:

1. Email us directly

• Include a copy of your license and the URL of your YouTube video

2. Dispute the claim through YouTube

• You can dispute the claim directly from your YouTube account.

How long does it take?

• Claims are usually removed within 72 hours, but they can often be cleared sooner.

How to Avoid Copyright Claims Before Publishing Your Video

If you want to ensure your video won’t receive a claim before publishing, follow these steps:

1. Upload your video as “Unlisted” on YouTube.

2. Email us through our contact page with:

• A copy of your license
• The URL of your “Unlisted” video

3. We will pre-clear your video so that when you publish it, you won’t receive a claim.

This method also works for live-streamed videos.

Frequent Users – Get Your YouTube Channel Whitelisted

For customers who use our music frequently, we offer a YouTube Channel Whitelisting service.

What is Whitelisting?

• Once your channel is whitelisted, you will no longer receive copyright claims for using our music in future videos.

Who is eligible?

• If you have used our music in three or more YouTube videos on your channel, you can request channel whitelisting.
